episode 20-21

*****Episode Twenty*****
April woke up that morning full of happiness. She
was very grateful to God for the scholarship the
director had given because she knows that it
was the Lords doing that’s why the director has
accepted to sponsor her in school not because
of the idea the
principal came up with
April was also happy that she had written Jamb
just as her mum
had advised if not she would have stayed at
home for a whole
year.
She was about to go and greet her parents when
I mum came into her room.
April: ”Good morning mum”
Jane: ”Morning my dear. How was your night?”
April: ”Was blissful and yours?”
Jane: ”Was restful and peaceful”
April: ”Mum I was about coming to greet you and
dad before you
came in but let me go and greet dad” (standing
up)”
Jane: ”that wont necessary because your dad
left home early today”
April: (sitting down again) ”Okay mum”
Jane: ”I came here to discuss something with
you”
April: ”Concerning what?”
Jane: ”Your education”
April: ”And what about it?”
Jane: ”My dear, you know you have already
written your ssec and jamb remaining your post
utme that is just three months away? Now I want
to know where you are going to stay when you
gain admission into the university”
April: ”Mum I plan on renting a one room
apartment to stay
because I don’t want to stay in the hostel”
Jane: ”Why won’t you be going to school from
home? I think it will
be better”
April: ”No mum staying in school will be better
because I will be
able to concentrate more in my studies”
Jane: ”No my dear I want you to go from home
so that I will be
able yo keep an eye on you”
April: ”Why are you so afraid to let me stay on
my own”
Jane: ”My dear it because I don’t want to loose
you too”
April: ”Mum why are always making this
statement of not wanting to loose me”
Jane: ”Because you are my only surviving
child” (she said in tears)
April: (confused) ”Only surviving child? I thought
I was an only
child”
Jane: ”You are not my only child but you the
surviving one”
April: ”The child you are talking about is he or
she my elder or
younger sibling?”
Jane: ”None because she was your twin”
April: (shocked) ”Mum are you trying to tell Me
that I have a late sis as my twin ?”
Jane: ”Yes my dear”
April: ”Why didn’t you tell me this before?”
Jane: ”I didn’t tell you because am still hurting
deep inside over the
lost of my child though a part of me is still
telling me that my child
is still alive”
April: (in tears) ”What killed her?”
Jane: ”I don’t know because she died few hours
after i gave birth to you girls”
April: ”That means you don’t have anything about
her I can see”
Jane: ”Yes my dear even me I didn’t get to see
her when she was alive”
April: ”I can’t believe all this while I have been
wishing to to have a
sibling but little did I know that the cold hands of
death to my only sibling from me”
Jane: ”Now you see why am afraid?”
April: ”Yes mum but me staying in school doesn’t
mean you are
going to loose me”
Jane: ”I may loose you to bad friends in school”
April: ”Mum you know the type of daughter you
have, i don’t make
friends, I promise not to mingle with bad friends
in school and
mum going to school from home is going to cost
more than me
renting an apartment”
Jane: ”You are right my dear. I didn’t even think
about the cost”
April: ”Does that mean I can look for an
apartment in school and
come visiting you and dad weekends?”
Jane: ”Yes my dear”
April: ”Thanks mum. I think am still feeling sleepy and
am going back to sleep”
Jane: ”Look at this girl o! You think because you
are now through
with your exams, you can now wake up anytime
you feel like?”
April: ”Yes mum”
Jane: ”Come on get up from that bed and go do
your house chores
then you can start reading for your post utme”
April: ”Reading for post utme is still too early”
Jane: ”Post utme is just three month away so
you are going to
start reading now” (with that she left the room)
April said to herself ” there is still time for me to
read for my
post utme but now am going back to sleep”
Then she collapse
back on her bed.

*****Episode Twenty One*****
Three months later
Today is the day both April and Kimberly are
writing their post
utme but Kimberly was really nervous about the
exam because
she didn’t really prepare for the exam because
she been busy
surfing the internet for the past three month with
her laptop and
now she is beginning to think that are mum was
actually doing the right thing when she didn’t
allow her dad to buy a laptop for her saying that
it would be a major distraction to her.
Kimberly is about to sit down for the exam but
she was 95% sure
she was going to fail the exam because her
brain is completely
blank and it will only take the grace of God for
her to pass. She sat in one corner observing the
students trying to find some who look bright to
sit with. She was looking randomly when her
eyes fell on this girl. It was as if she was being
pull to her, and she also look bright, like one of
those student that know what to write. When the
time for them to go in and write came she went
and sit beside the girl.
April and Kimberly were seated side by side for
the exam. April noticed that Kimberly has was
nervous but she thought it was exam tension
until when the examiner brought their question
paper and answer sheet that was when she knew
that Kimberly was
nervous because she didn’t know what to write
not because of exam tension.
Instead of April to concentrate on her own exam,
she was busy
thinking of how she was going to help the girl
(Kimberly) sitting
her without the examiner noticing.
April was still thinking when an idea came to her
head. She turned
to Kimberly and whisper to her not to write her
name on her
answer sheet.
April knew what she was about to do was exam
malpractice and
risky and she also know the consequences of
getting caught in the act but she was willing to
take the risk but what April didn’t
understand was why she was willing to take
such a huge risk for
a girl she didn’t even know.
April has already answered all her question but
she was waiting
for the perfect opportunity for her to exchange
her answer sheet
with Kimberly and fortunately for April, a student
called on the
attention of the examiner that was supervising
them. April used
that opportunity to exchanged her answer sheet
with Kimberly’s
own with the examiner and the student noticing
it.
Kimberly was really surprised that a girl that
didn’t even know her
could take such a risk in helping her. She has
been meaning to ask her for help but when the
girl told her not to write her name first and then
collected her answer sheet from her, she was
really surprise and thankful. She thought maybe
it was God that sent an angel in human form to
help her with her exam.
After the exam with everybody submitting their
answer sheet. some student where already
rushing out of the hall, Kimberly sighted the girl
who helped her among the student leaving the
class, she quickly rush out of the class in order
for her to catch up with her.
When Kimberly came out, she couldn’t sight April
but she decided to look for her a little and luckily
for her, she saw April buying pure water from a
canteen so she quickly rush to where April was.
Kimberly: ”Hello”
April: ”Hi”
Kimberly: ”erm… I… I came to tell you thank you
for helping me
with my exam”
April: ”It was nothing and there is no need for
you to thank me
Kimberly: ”There is every need for me to thank
you because if not
for you today, I think I will be rewriting jamb and
post utme next year”
April: ”How are you sure that we are going to
pass?”
Kimberly: ”With your confidence. Am
Kimberly” (extending her
hand for a handshake as she introduce herself)
April: ”Am April” (accepted her hands for a
handshake)
Kimberly: ”You got a nice name but please can I
ask you a
question?”
April: ”Yes you can”
Kimberly: ”Why did you take such a huge risk in
helping me?”
April: ”Honestly speaking, I don’t know why I
helped you out”
Kimberly: ”April hope you don’t mind taking a pic
with me?”
April: ”Not at all”
Kimberly brought out her phone and asked a
student passing by
to please take a picture of them
April: ”Wow! You look so beautiful in the picture”
Kimberly: ”Thanks. you too you were not looking
bad either”
April: ”Thanks and nice meeting you and bye”
Kimberly: ”The pleasure is mine and am about
going home too. Do
you mind me and my driving dropping you off?”
April: ”Don’t worry Kimberly I will like to take a
public transport”
Kimberly: ”Okay bye”
April: ”Bye”
and with that they went their separate ways
